Non-Road Clean Diesel Demonstration Project
Goal: Reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) and fine particle emissions.
This project, a partnership between
Dane County Clean Air Coaltion and
DNR (along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's
National Clean Diesel Campaign) aimed to reduce emissions from non-road, diesel powered equipment. The program funded the purchase of diesel oxidation catalyst mufflers for installation on a variety of non-road equipment, such as bulldozers, scrapers, end loaders and graders. The anticipated average emission reductions are 25 percent for fine particles, 70% for VOCs and 70% for carbon monoxide. Grant-funded equipment ranged in price from $1,000 to $8,000 with the participants paying for installation as a match. Project participants include
Dane County,
City of Madison, Theiding Construction
of Loganville,
Miller Compressing of Milwaukee, and the
Port of Milwaukee.
