Dane County Clean Air Action Days
Goal: Reduce volatile organic compound and nitrogen-oxide emissions

A Clean Air Action Day lets people know that ground-level ozone could reach an unhealthy level for sensitive groups, especially children, older adults, people with asthma and others engaged in vigorous activities. You can check Dane County's daily air quality on our home page. DCCAC alerts the public when a Clean Air Action Day is forecast on our website, local television weather reports, and in the local newspapers.

For the sake of public health, DCCAC asks government agencies, businesses and citizens to cut down or stop activities that produce ozone on Clean Air Action Days. Participating organizations (that have already designed Clean Air Action Day plans) activate their plans. Madison's Metro Transit provides free bus service on the first five Clean Air Action Days each year to encourage people to leave their cars at home.
